If, for example, a person is consuming - eating - 2250 calories a day, but needs only 2000 calories daily by leading 'light active' lifestyle, then the extra 250 calories have to be eliminated otherwise the extra calories will be stored in the body as fat.

Basal Metabolic Rate Calculator
A Basal Metabolic Rate Calculator is used to indicate the number of calories a person's body burns whilst at rest to maintain normal body functions ie. breathing, heart beating, eating, and to maintain current weight.

A person's BMR is influenced by a number of factors including age, weight, height, gender, diet, and exercise habits. The younger or bigger a person is, the higher is ones Metabolic Rate. Due to the greater percentage of lean muscle tissue in the male body, men generally have a 10-15% higher BMR than women.

Remember that the readings are not intended to serve as medical advice.
